Supertall Innovation Through Creative Integration

Tianjin CTF Finance Centre is located in Tianjin’s Binhai New Area, an additional business core created in response to the city’s influx of development over the last several decades. The supertall was designed with reference to the new urban design principles applied to Binhai New Area, which include balancing greater density with human-scale, pedestrian-friendly streets; a range of parks; and a diverse mix of residences, commercial properties, and public buildings. To wit, the completed mixed-use project is embedded into a walkable urban grid with abundant transit connections.The primary challenge in executing Tianjin’s tallest building was in creating a tower that integrated three distinct programmatic elements—serviced apartments, office space, and hotel functions—within a tower that was distinctive in form, but also logically organized for optimal wayfinding.
